A meeting was held at the Ministry of Agriculture with the delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Co-Chairman of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Vladimir Bolea, who is visiting Azerbaijan.
Welcoming the guests, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Co-Chairman of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Majnun Mammadov noted the dynamic development of cooperation between the two countries in all areas. Noting that Moldova is a strategic partner of Azerbaijan, the Minister added that our country supports all initiatives aimed at deepening cooperation between the two states.
Stressing that global climate change poses serious risks to the process of ensuring agrarian food security, Minister Majnun Mammadov touched upon the importance of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) held in Baku in November last year. He said that Azerbaijan successfully organized this international event, and a number of important international initiatives were adopted, including the COP29 Declaration on Climate Action. The Minister expressed his gratitude for Moldova's high-level representation at COP29.
The Minister recalled that the liberated territories were declared green energy zones, and large-scale restoration and reconstruction works were carried out in these territories based on the "Smart City" and "Smart Village" concepts. He expressed his readiness to cooperate with Moldova in the application of advanced technologies and exchange of experience in this process.
Expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome, Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea noted that Moldova is a friendly country with Azerbaijan and is interested in developing partnership relations in all areas. During the meeting, the possibilities of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, transport, culture, education and tourism, increasing the number of direct flights from Azerbaijan to Moldova, effective use of tourism potential, cooperation in the field of processing agricultural products, the activities of the Azerbaijan-Moldova joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, the sixth meeting of the commission to be held in Baku on April 11 of this year, and issues related to the business forum to be organized within this framework were discussed.
The parties also exchanged views on the signed and negotiated agreements, prospects for future cooperation, and emphasized the great potential for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Moldova in the agricultural sector. It was noted that strengthening mutual regional relations, organizing information exchange on products with high export potential, increasing trade turnover, transferring modern technologies in the agricultural sector, conducting scientific and research work, training specialists in the agricultural sector, establishing joint ventures, and exploring the possibilities of Moldova's integration into transport infrastructure projects implemented by Azerbaijan could be the main directions of cooperation.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
