Minister Majnun Mammadov and Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut held an online meeting
The meeting discussed issues of cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector.
An online meeting was held between the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Majnun Mammadov and the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut.
During the meeting, the current situation in the agricultural sector between the two countries was discussed, and the parties emphasized the dynamic development of cooperation in the agricultural sector, as in other sectors of the economy.
Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut noted that agriculture is one of the main areas of cooperation between the two countries. She expressed her interest in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in the agricultural sector and developing business relations between business entities and businessmen. Oksana Lut also noted that Russia is ready to fully meet Azerbaijan's demand for grain products. She said that a business mission consisting of leading Russian grain exporters will visit Azerbaijan in May. The Russian minister stressed the importance of developing cooperation in other areas of agriculture, including fisheries.
Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Majnun Mammadov noted that increasing trade turnover in agricultural products between the two countries is one of the main goals. The Minister emphasized that there is great potential in this direction. He thanked Ms. Oksana Luta for her active participation in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) held in Baku last November, and called on Russian companies to actively participate in the Caspian Agro exhibition, the largest agricultural exhibition in the Caucasus, to be held in Baku next month.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of increasing trade turnover in agricultural and food products, transfer of the most modern technologies in the agricultural sector, digitalization, implementation of internship programs in the fields of scientific research and education, implementation of dual diploma programs between one of the prestigious higher educational institutions of Russia specializing in agriculture and the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University, application of new technologies and methods in plant breeding and seed production, and joint cooperation in the fight against animal diseases.
The parties also reviewed new cooperation opportunities in the field of agriculture and emphasized the importance of regular dialogue to expand relations in this direction.
