Leyla Mammadova, Chairman of the Board of "Agro Procurement and Supply” OJSC under the Ministry of Agriculture and other executives of the organization held meetings with local farmers in Lankaran and Masalli districts. The main purpose of the meetings held in State Agricultural Development Centers of the districts was to inform farmers about “From City to Village”, “From Village to City” and “AFAQ” projects and encourage them to cooperate. The delegation also visited the citrus garden belonging to Raftara Shukurova located in Lankaran and tea plantations of the district.
Speaking at the meeting, Leyla Mammadova informed about the activities of the organization headed by her and the purpose of the visit to the region: “Our main purpose is to make you develop your own farms. Consequently, we have delivered agricultural products of more than 50 farmers from Astara, Masalli, Lankaran and Jalilabad regions over the past 6 months. As far as you know, we carry out a food supply of various government agencies with these products. Within our visit, we would like to get to know more farmers.
Leyla Mammadova also mentioned that the cooperation would be beneficial to farmers: “We are implementing several projects in order to support you. “From City to Village” agro-ecotourism project will allow you to earn additional income by hosting local and foreign tourists on your farm. You will not wait seasonal income by joining this project. On the other hand, we are implementing “AFAQ” project for female farmers. The main goal of our project is to support women farmers for the difficulties that they face in the agro sector and to increase the number of women working in this field. I also invite you to join “From Village to City” project.
By joining this project, you can sell your products without charge at “From Village to City” fairs arranged in four different locations in Baku and cognominal sale centers. In the end, Leyla Mammadova called on farmers to join the projects: “I invite both you and other farmers you know to join our projects. Through these projects, you will be able to grow your own farm and contribute to the development of your region. It should be noted that meetings with farmers are being held by the executives of “Agro Procurement and Supply” OJSC in different regions of the country. The organization of these meetings will also continue later.
