A seminar on sustainable agriculture for healthy food production was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Azerbaijan. Attaches of the Netherlands Embassy in Azerbaijan and other countries, officials of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, representatives of international organizations and business structures attended the seminar. The ambassador of the Netherlands to Azerbaijan Onno Kervers, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilhama Gadimova and Chairman of the "Agro Supply and Procurement" OJSC Leyla Mammadova spoke at the opening ceremony. Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Azerbaijan Onno Kervers spoke about the current situation of relations between the two countries, especially in the agrarian sector, and perspectives for agricultural cooperation. He said that the exchange of agricultural experience with Azerbaijan is one of the priority areas of cooperation for the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Deputy Minister of Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilhama Gadimova, said that reforms in agricultural development in Azerbaijan have yielded positive results. “State support for agrarian sector is constantly being supported, new technologies are being expanded to provide sustainable agricultural production, and subsidies for farm development are provided. The purpose of these activities is to stimulate the production of high quality agricultural products, to ensure food security and sustainable agriculture. ” Chairman of the "Agro Supply and Procurement" OJSC Leyla Mammadova touched upon the activities, projects and achievements of the company, which is headed by her on sustainable agriculture. He noted that the innovations introduced by the Ministry of Agriculture, the opportunities provided by Agro Supply and Procurement to farmers play an exceptional role in the development of farmers, improving the quality and volume of agricultural products: “The main purpose of the projects “From the Village to the City” “From City to the Village”, “Azerbaijani Women in Agriculture” is to increase the quality, productivity of the products, which is produced by small and medium farms and support to their sale. At the same time, ensuring sustainability in agriculture by increasing social welfare of farmers is one of the main activities of the Ministry of Agriculture and its subordinated structures”. The seminar continued with panel discussions. Panel discussions were held about “Sustainable Land and Water Management” at the “Smart” agriculture panel, “Pilot Farm”, “Waste Management”, “Sustainable Nutrition and Feeding” at the Veterinary (Animal Health) panel, “Veterinary”, and “Plant Health / Disease” at the Green panel, , "Plant Health / Disease and post-harvest management Management” at the Greenhouse Technology panel, “Complex pest control”, Innovations in greenhouses ”, “ Sustainable greenhouses”.
