The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Azerbaijan held a meeting with entrepreneurs working in the agricultural sector with the support of “Agro Procurement and Supply” OJSC. During the meeting, participants were informed and discussed about enhancing export opportunities between the two countries and possible perspectives for cooperation in the agricultural sector.
While giving a speech at the event, Ambassador Adil Embarsh spoke about the benefits of cooperation with Morocco and its economic ties with other countries. The ambassador who mentioned Morocco’s interest in cooperation with a number of countries reminded that a free trade agreement was signed with the European Union, the US, Turkey and Arab countries.
He stated that Morocco is the first African country to invest in the continent. In addition, the ambassador also spoke about the importance and cooperation opportunities of Tanger Med that covers 186 ports and 77 countries around the world.
During the meeting, participants were informed about the 15th International Agricultural Exhibition (SIAM) which will be held in Morocco on April 14-19 this year. This exhibition, initiated by the King Mohammed VI in 2006, is the largest exhibition in Africa. In this respect, the importance of the exhibition for Azerbaijani agro producers was emphasized and stated that SIAM enables local producers to enter new markets and cooperate with a number of countries around the world.
Sarkhan Sarkhanov, a member of the Board of "Agro Procurement and Supply" OJSC informed about the activity directions of the OJSC, and stressed their readiness to provide comprehensive assistance to local agro producers wishing to participate in the exhibition.
It should be noted that "Agro Procurement and Supply" Open Joint Stock Company was established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 14, 2018 on the basis of "Food Procurement and Supply" OJSC.
The main purpose of the company is to implement procurement and supply of food and agricultural products based on the orders of public procurement organizations, to stimulate the production or processing of agricultural products, to ensure the development of agricultural producers, to improve the social welfare of the population engaged in the agriculture in the regions, and etc.
