Baku hosted a subsequent seminar on development of the National Land Consolidation Strategy with FAO support

A subsequent seminar dedicated to the support of development of the draft law, strategy and State Program within the framework of the “Pilot project for supporting to develop the Land Consolidation National Strategy, and Land Consolidation” supported by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Parliament, State Committee on Property Issues, Amelioration and Water Industry OJC, State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, the Chairperson of Rural Women's Association, and local and foreign experts attended the seminar.

Mr. Firidun Taghiyev, Head of Division of the Land Use Control Department from the Ministry of Agriculture informed about the activities performed in the village of Shorsulu in Salyan, which had been selected as a pilot region within that project. Mr. Firidun Taghiyev has said that the project involves the development of the national land consolidation strategy, the draft law as well as the relevant State Program. He noted the importance of close cooperation of all relevant agencies within the framework of the project.

Mr. Kaan Basaran, Program Offices, FAO's Partnership and Liaison Office in Azerbaijan, expressing his satisfaction with the cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and reported on the successfully ongoing project.

Mr. Morten Hartvigsen, FAO land tenure expert delivered a presentation on the current performance status of the land consolidation project.

Mr. Tomas Berzinskas, Internation Legal Advisor and Mr. Samir Isayev, National Legal Advisor presented the draft law on land consolidation which had been developed according to international experience.

The topic of the presentation was dedicated to the benefits of farmers from land consolidation, and farmers’ questions were responded.

Finally, a broad exchange of views was held on the project.
