An online meeting was held between the leaders and employees of the State Seed Fund, Scientific and Research Institute of Agriculture and Agricultural Research Council of Pakistan regarding the development of rice farming.
A meeting was held in an online format between the managers and employees of the State Seed Fund, the Scientific and Research Institute of Agriculture (ASRI) and the Agricultural Research Council of Pakistan.
Inaugurating the event, Professor Ghulam Muhammad Al, the Chairman of the Agricultural Research Council of Pakistan, said that rice plays an important role in meeting the growing demand for food of the world's population. For this reason, rice is considered a strategic crop in Pakistan's agriculture. The bilateral meeting will lead to further development of this field.
Faig Khudayev, the director of ASRI, who spoke at the event, informed the event participants about the economic importance of the rice plant, its role in ensuring food security, the work done in the field of rice farming, and the state support provided to rice farming in our country.
Speaking later, Sarkhan Sarkhanov, the Chairman of the State Seed Fund, said that in recent years a number of significant measures have been taken in the direction of the development of rice growing, which is one of the traditional branches of agriculture, meeting the population's demand for rice through domestic production and strengthening scientific support and human resources in the field of rice farming. It was noted that for the development of the agricultural sector in Azerbaijan, the state is taking systematic support measures, including to increase rice production.
At the event, there were presentations on the current state of rice farming in Azerbaijan. There were extensive discussions around the presentation. The possibilities of cooperation with Pakistan in the field of creation of new rice varieties, organization of seed production system and personnel training were investigated. As a result, in order to continue the cooperation in the field of rice farming, an agreement was reached on the identification of coordinating institutions and the coordination of relations on both sides.
