Minister Majnun Mammadov met with the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development

Minister Majnun Mammadov met with a delegation led by the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Alvaro Larion. The meeting emphasized the interest in continuing effective cooperation between Azerbaijan and IFAD in the field of agriculture, and discussed the prospects for future cooperation.

Welcoming the guests, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov touched upon the importance of holding the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan, and emphasized that our country enthusiastically joins the initiatives arising from global challenges and attaches importance to effective cooperation with international partners. It was noted that Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), a specialized agency of the United Nations.

In turn, IFAD President Alvaro Lario provided extensive information about the activities of the organization he represents, the agricultural projects implemented in various countries, and spoke about the opportunities for cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture. He emphasized the importance of cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of agriculture.

The meeting emphasized the importance of projects implemented within the framework of joint cooperation with IFAD, and considered the possibilities of implementing projects in line with Azerbaijan's new agrarian development strategy. The parties exchanged views on the following topics for future cooperation: further increasing productivity in the agricultural sector, supporting individual farms and ensuring food security, protecting natural resources and ecological balance, digital transformation of agro-food systems, increasing export potential by meeting international standards in the field of food production and processing, strengthening education, training and scientific research in the agricultural sector, and establishing a sustainable agricultural system for the sustainable development of rural areas and communities.
