Panel discussions on various fields of agriculture are organized at the forum

The "International Agrarian Innovation Forum" is being held within the "17th Azerbaijan International Agricultural Exhibition". Panel discussions on various fields of agriculture are organized at the forum. Discussions are held on various priority areas of agriculture with the participation of local and international experts in the panels held within the framework of "Caspian Agro 2024".

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sarvan Jafarov, speaking at the first panel session dedicated to the topic "Development of sustainable agriculture in climate change", said that the agricultural sector is one of the main strategic areas of the country's economy. Stating that the development of the agricultural sector is directly dependent on environmental factors such as soil, water and climate, Deputy Minister Sarvan Jafarov said that the efficient use of natural resources is of great importance. The deputy minister said that our country is sensitive to environmental issues and supports global challenges in this field.

Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Taghiyeva touched on the importance of holding the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan and talked about the measures implemented to minimize the impact of climate change on the agricultural sector.

Zakir Guliyev, the representative of the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan, touched on the measures implemented in the direction of efficient use of water resources, prevention of water losses, and announced future plans in this direction.

Muhammad Nasar Hayat, the representative of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in our country, touched on the issues of food security, creating a sustainable agricultural system in line with new challenges, increasing productivity by protecting the environment, and global cooperation in these directions. The FAO official said that it is important to build more sustainable agro-food systems in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals against the background of global challenges and emphasized that the organization he represents will continue to support Azerbaijan in this direction.

Stefanie Stallmeister, the country manager of the World Bank for Azerbaijan, drew attention to the successful experience of cooperation with Azerbaijan and the importance of the projects implemented jointly in the past period. He emphasized that he will not spare his recommendations regarding the reduction of the effects of climate change on the country's economy and future measures for various climate scenarios.

Then "Agrarian Business Festivals and cooperation: International relations and principles of interaction", "Modern view of the organization of irrigation in agriculture: problems and innovative solutions", "Stimulation of entrepreneurship, support for local production", "Modern approaches in the fields of production and processing of fruit and vegetable products" panel sessions were held.

In the panel sessions, discussions were held in the direction of the role of agrarian innovations in ensuring food security, increasing productivity with the application of innovative solutions, and more efficient use of land and water resources.

During the sessions, measures implemented in the direction of the development of agriculture in the country were discussed, and informative and advisory information was shared about the innovative solutions and results applied in this field.

In the panel sessions, opinions were exchanged on the topics, and the questions of the participants were answered.

Panel sessions will be organized on May 16 within the framework of the International Agrarian Innovation Forum on the topics "Role of women in agriculture", "Sustainable development of animal husbandry and feed production: problems and innovative solutions" and "Development prospects of the Agritech ecosystem".
