The last panel discussion held by the Ministry of Agriculture at the “Food, Agriculture and Water Day” within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) was dedicated to the topic of “A Working Mechanism for Climate Finance for Farmers: On-Farm Experiences and Concrete Solutions”.

Opening the event with an introductory speech, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov noted that the panel discussions held within the framework of the international climate conference serve the future of agriculture and that collective action will contribute to the process of global food systems responding to the challenges of climate change, food security and sustainable development.

The Minister emphasized that the future of agriculture depends on innovation, technology and inclusiveness. He said that to this end, the Azerbaijani government prioritizes initiatives that help farmers adopt advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital tools that optimize productivity, save resources and increase climate resilience. This approach is important not only to increase productivity, but also to create the foundation for sustainable agricultural practices.

The minister called on the event participants to support the Baku Harmony Climate Initiative for Farmers, which aims to empower farmers, women and youth, share solutions and contribute to global food security: “We believe that by uniting under this initiative, we can create a strong network that strengthens resilience and allows farmers to thrive even in the face of climate uncertainty.”

Local and foreign experts speaking at the panel discussions noted that digitalization is required in every sector of agriculture to efficiently use limited resources. In their opinion, integrating innovations, developing human potential and inclusiveness will determine the success of agriculture in the future. The speakers emphasized that in the context of global climate change, ensuring inclusive and sustainable development of agriculture has become one of the main goals in modern times. It was noted that increasing agricultural production and ensuring food security necessitates constant cooperation at the global level.
