In Guba, which has been declared the agricultural capital of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), a meeting of the organization's member and observer states on the establishment of the "OTS Made" brand is being held under the organization of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Authorized representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and experts of relevant institutions are participating in the event.
Azad Jafarli, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who opened the meeting with his opening speech, informed the participants of the event about the reforms carried out in the country's agrarian sector and future goals. It was stated that necessary measures are being taken for the sustainable development of the agricultural sector by effectively using the limited land and water resources in the agricultural sector, producing more agricultural products, creating climate-friendly green and digital agriculture, as well as diversifying the range and geography of export products. Pointing out that the agrarian sector in our country is exempt from all taxes except the land tax, the Head of the Office added that there are strong state support mechanisms in the form of subsidies, loans and concessions for the development of agriculture in Azerbaijan. Foreign business entities can equally benefit from all opportunities, benefiting from a reliable and favorable business environment.
Azad Jafarli, who said that Turkish states have great agricultural potential, noted that it is important for OTS member and observer states to implement various projects related to the production of agricultural and food products under a joint brand. OTS countries should make effective use of economic, agrarian potential, investment and existing transport infrastructure opportunities and mutually beneficial cooperation, and make joint efforts to create a production and export module.
Speaking at the event, Farrukh Jumayev, the project director of the Organization of Turkic States, touched on the issue of joint production opportunities under the "OTS Made" brand by the member countries of the organization. The project director gave detailed information to the meeting participants about the current market, demand and production capacity among the OTS countries. He said that the agrarian field is one of the strategic areas for cooperation between the OTS countries and it is important to take advantage of the available opportunities.
At the meeting, presentations of the deputy director of the Agrarian Research Center (ARC) Namig Shalbuzov related to a statistical database of products produced under the "OTS Made" brand, including the officials of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as well as production of companies operating in the field of agriculture under a single brand were listened to.
At the meeting, discussions were held regarding the creation of production under a single brand in the OTS countries. The participants of the event agreed on the preparation of the Road Map project at the initial stage for the purpose of joint production of agricultural and processing products.
Representatives of OTS countries visited model farms in Guba and Gusar and were interested in the process of organizing agricultural activities. The participants of the trip got acquainted with the activities of the Institute of Fruit and Tea Cultivation and inspected the institute's laboratories equipped with modern equipment and the greenhouse-seedling complex.
