Minister Majnun Mammadov met with the Vice President for South, Central and West Asia of the Asian Development Bank

Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov met with a delegation led by the Vice President for South, Central and West Asia of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Yingming Yang, who is visiting Azerbaijan. The meeting discussed relations between Azerbaijan and the Asian Development Bank.

Welcoming the guests, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said that cooperation with international organizations is continuing in order to apply advanced practices in the agricultural sector in our country. Azerbaijan attaches special importance to discussing new initiatives that will further strengthen this partnership and contribute to the sustainable development goals of our country. The Azerbaijani government is interested in fruitful cooperation with the Asian Development Bank on the basis of agricultural development policies and strategies. The importance of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) held in Baku was touched upon at the meeting, and it was emphasized that this prestigious event is an important event in the global fight against climate change.

ADB Vice President for South, Central and West Asia Yingming Yang, in turn, provided extensive information on the activities of the organization he represents, the agricultural projects implemented in various countries, and spoke about the opportunities for cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture.

During the meeting, the importance of projects implemented within the framework of joint cooperation with the Asian Development Bank was emphasized, and future cooperation prospects were reviewed.

The parties exchanged views on priority areas for future cooperation - further increasing productivity in the agricultural sector, full protection of land and water resources, efficient use and management of resources, digital transformation of agro-food systems, increasing export potential by meeting international standards in the field of food production and processing, strengthening education, training and scientific research in the agricultural sector, and establishing a sustainable agricultural system for the sustainable development of rural areas and communities.

An agreement was reached at the meeting to determine the prospects for future cooperation with the Asian Development Bank and continue the work on the preparation of projects for agricultural development at the working group level.
